β€œThe land is in all of our bones because part of the separation we seem to have internalized is the belief that we aren't part of the land. But we are land. We're not really different from the plants or any other species.

And I think part of the paradigm shift that needs to happen is just being more in touch with that. Getting back to the material realityβ€”the biological, material realityβ€”of these basics. We are literally part of the land. Our species are part of the ecosystems that make everything else operate. We're not separate from them. That's why we can have such a negative impact, but we can also have a positive one.

So, the land is in our bones. For me, as a person of diaspora, it's interesting. That's why I think the 'plantcestors' are so powerful, because they offer such an immediate way to interface with that every day.”

Maybe choose a wildflower from your area, scatter its seeds, and learn what helps it grow. Watch it grow, spend time with it in your garden, and observe where it thrives in its natural habitat. Familiarize yourself with your local watershed, take care of the land where you live.

While you're engaging in these rituals, take time to listen to your body and your sensesβ€”whether you're drinking tea from your lineage or eating a meal that brings back memories of your mother and the spices she used. Practice being fully present in your senses and simply notice what emerges."
